Waqt Support

A small pause before the apps that pull you in.

Waqt is a mindfulness app that adds a brief pause — The Gap — before you open Instagram, TikTok, or any app you reach for on autopilot. This page answers the most common questions. If yours isn't here, write to us — we read every message.

Frequently asked questions

What does Waqt do?

When you open an app you've added to a rule, Waqt shows a five-second pause asking why you're opening it. You can continue with intent, or close the app and come back later. Depending on the mode you choose, Waqt can also offer a short breathing exercise (4 in, 4 hold, 6 out) or apply a daily limit that shrinks gradually week by week.

Does Waqt collect any data?

No. Waqt has no server, no accounts, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. Every rule, every count, every minute stays on your iPhone. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Why does Waqt ask for Family Controls permission?

Waqt uses Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time frameworks to detect when you open one of the apps in your rules and to display the pause screen on top of them. Without this permission, Waqt cannot work. The framework runs entirely on your device — Waqt cannot see what you do inside those apps, only that one of them was opened.

You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings → Screen Time → Apps That Can See Activity.

Why does Waqt ask for Notification permission?

Notifications are used for gentle check-ins (Light mode), reminders that you're approaching your daily limit, and breathing prompts in Balance mode. All notifications are generated locally on your device — Waqt has no push-notification server. You can disable notifications in iOS Settings → Notifications → Waqt at any time.

What are Light, Balance, and Hard modes?

Waqt Premium also adds a Custom mode where you set your own Gap length, breathing interval, and daily limit.

The shield (pause screen) isn't appearing. What should I check?

  1. Open Waqt and make sure the rule is enabled (toggle on the Dashboard).
  2. Check that you granted Family Controls permission — iOS Settings → Screen Time → Apps That Can See Activity → Waqt should be on.
  3. Confirm that the app you expected to be paused is actually included in the rule. Open the rule and review the selected apps.
  4. If you set the rule less than a minute ago, give iOS a moment to apply it.
  5. If nothing works, restart your iPhone and try once more. If the issue persists, write to us with a description of what you tried.

How do I manage or cancel my Premium subscription?

Waqt Premium is a yearly subscription with a 7-day free trial. Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. To view, change, or cancel:

Cancelling during the free trial means you will not be charged. If you have already been charged, refunds are handled by Apple — visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I delete my data?

Because all data lives on your device, deleting the Waqt app removes everything — rules, usage counters, settings. There is nothing stored on any server because Waqt does not have one.

What iOS version do I need?

Waqt requires iOS 18.6 or later. The Family Controls and DeviceActivity frameworks Waqt relies on are not available on earlier versions.

Is Waqt available outside the United States?

Yes. Waqt is available worldwide on the Apple App Store. The app is currently in English; more languages will be added over time.
